a piece of printer paper would be the right size to draw a pattern
i drew a rough one and then folded in half to make both sides the same
but they dont have to be
we wont be turning this doll inside out so we can have narrower bits like my dolls horns/ears
so make a shape and cut it out....dont bother adding for seam allowances

first get 2 pieces of fabric that doesnt unravel easily
maybe each 8 inches by 12 inches
a nice sharp needle and some cotton embroidery thread of a matching or co ordinating colour

last night i saw myself like this...only scary looking because every on of my hairs would be standing on end
each one a question with a question mark at the end
and my open mouth would be full of questions pouring out
and my eyes decorated with questions
my nose and a circle of questions around my neck

so many questions
i knew tho
that there was no point
no question would be answered
there would be words
and things framed like answers
but no answer at all
and i would be left

When Monday ran a feature about the local jazz scene back in November, relative newcomer Emily Braden was on our must-interview list. Why? On top of being amazingly busy both singing locally and recording in New York City during 2008, this promising vocalist has been making the ears of jazz fans perk up for some time now and has been quickly moving up the local performance ladder. As she noted to us in that article, Victoria has a “really strong community . . . and there’s not a whole lot of drama in the scene.” What there is, however, is a whole lot of talent—including the marvelous Ms. Braden.
